Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is both tremendous and infuriatingly annoying at the same time. Chasing down a caravan in the middle of the desert on horseback is awesome. Running through collapsing ruins is amazing. The big problem I had is with the combat. At times the player is put into aggravating situations with limited ammo and weapons. There is one combat set piece where the player is blinded by a sandstorm, but the enemies are not. Fighting snipers and mounted machine guns (that can only be killed by hidden RPG’s) while blinded might be the most frustrating combat set piece I have played in a third person shooter.
The overall epicness is enough to maintain the fun throughout the whole game. Uncharted 3 left me craving more of the same thrills, but not enough to wade through the irritating combat in another playthrough.
